A Very Full Week

I saw this show at the Philharmonic with my cousin, her boyfriend, and J last week. It was a great way to spend a cold, icy Tuesday night. My three favorite things about going to the Philharmonic: 1) Pre-show drinks at the bar in the Avery Fisher building 2) Taking a little nap during the first part of the show 3) Seeing my favorite book displayed on the children's books table during intermission The Philharmonic Gets Dressed.

For V-day, we played it low-key. J braised some short ribs for a couple of days, so by Wednesday the meat was falling off the bone. We watched some Entourage and drank a really good wine.

Thursday night, Em and I went to visit Raquel at Dock's Oyster Bar where she's been working these past few months. I made Em try her first oyster. But I think she made a big mistake in refusing to douse it in cocktail sauce and horseradish...

Friday night I trekked up to Dinosaur Barbeque on 130th street, right by the Fairway. Brought back memories of shopping trips at Barnard. We used to make weekend outings of going food shopping to Fairway. We'd divide and conquer the store: Some would go to the freezer section, others would be in charge of getting canned goods and paper towels. And we'd always finish our economy sized animal cracker container practically that very day.

The food is REALLY good at Dinosaur. I am a big fan of their wings--they are not fried, and just the right amount of spicy when you order them mild. You can add the special Dinosaur bbq sauce to it if you want to give it even more kick.

Dena came with me to art class. I hardly ever have a friend with me during class, so of course when she was there I had a case of the giggle fits when the models dropped trou. It's like, for the past three years I've been absolutely fine with the nakedness, but the minute I have a friend next to me, being two feet from someone's private parts becomes absolutely hysterical.

Dance class at Alvin Ailey was not impossible yesterday, which was good because if I tripped over myself, the instructor would have relegated me to the back of the class. My neck is killing me tho.

We went out with the fam last night to dinner at Del Posto (Enoteca)...Mom told me that she was talking to her sister, and my aunt had remarked, "Oh, so you knew the kids went to the Philharmonic together this week?" My mom told her yes. So then my aunt said, "Well everyone just loves Lexi's laugh." "Oh really?" my mom asked her. "Yes," responded my aunt. "They especially love when she SNORTS." I thought that that was such a funny comment to make after spending a whole classy evening with someone, so of course I inadvertantly snorted while laughing in response.
